GOOD PROGRESS MADE Good progress was made on Saturday under excellent playing conditions, with the Gala Cup tournament, A and B grades of the Mid-Canterbury Tennis Association. Results were; — A GRADE Men’s Singles—First round (results after the “Guardian” went, to press on Saturday): L. Grogan beat E. W. Wade, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2; .1. Coward beat D. Russell, 6-0, 6-2.
