ANOTHER WARM DAY Temperatures were again high at Ashburton to-day. The sun shone from an almost cloudlesse sky, and there was no wind. . Recordings taken at the Domain for the 24 hours up to 9 a.m. were (with those for the previous 24-hour period in parentheses): Maximum thermometer 83.2 (76.2); minimum 58 (51.6); earth temperature 61.6 (60); barometer 29.87 (30.07). There were 9.9 hours of sunshine on Saturday and 7.5 yesterday. At 1 o’clock to-day the temperature was 89 degrees, compared with the previous highest this summer of 84.5. SOUTH-WEST CHANGE \ (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist,. at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: General situation: An anti-cyclone is moving to the east of New Zealand and there is a depression in the South-west Tasman. The forecast for the east coast of the South. Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows: — Moderate north-easterly winds on the coast, north-westerlies freshening inland for a time to-morrow; weather fair to cloudy, with warm day temperatures. Further outlook: South-west change with some showers.
