MEAT SHIP DIVERTED TO HOLLAND

BRITISH LOAN ARRANGEMENT LONDON, Feb. 24. A ship carrying Australian beef to Britain is to be diverted to Halland, says the “Daily Express.” Britain’s meat stocks and supply prospects are so good that the Food Ministry, has made a loan arrangement with Holland. Britain is to lend meat to Holland, and the Dutch will replace it eithey in cash or in kind as soon as they can. The limit of the loan is believed to be 7500 tons, of which 1500 tons has been delivered. Of the 15 refrigerator ships the Food Ministry was using for storing meat at the end of last year, only four remain. This means that of 45,000 tons in store in ships two months ago, 12,000 tons remain. That is enough for less than half a week’s supply at the present ration.
