INQUEST CONCLUDED
DEATH OF MRS BEHNKE The inquest into the death of Mi s Ivv Violet Belmke, of Rakaia, begun yesterday, was concluded this morning before the District Coroner, Mi E. C. Bathurst. I „„ , . The evidence of Mr P. W. C. Belinke, husband of the deceased, stated that Mrs Behnke had retired at about 9.30 p.m. on the night of Wednesday last (February 22) but took ill during the night. Witness went for a doctor, but on his return about 2 a.m. on the Tliursdav morning found his wife collapsed and apparently unconscious. Dr Candy arrived about live minutes later and found that death had occ urr6tl. The evidence of Dr. J. Russell Wells, who conducted a post-mortem examination yesterday, was to the ’eitect that death had resulted from acute pulmonary oedema, supervening upon venal insufficiency and toxic, myocarditis, associated with the toxaemia ot pregnancy. . The coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence.
