The Mayor, Mr E. C. Bathurst, and the Town Clerk, Mr R. C. Major, are to attend a municipal conference in Auckland, beginning on March 7. At yesterday’s meeting of the Mid-Can-terbury Red Cross executive best wishes were extended to them for their trip. Mr E. Buchanan has notified the Ashburton No-Licence Council that ho will not seek re-election to the Licensing Committee. Mr Buchanan has been a keen supporter of nolicence for many years, but failing health has brought him to this decision.
