EAST KINDERGARTEN

ANNUAL MEETING The fourth annual meeting of the Ashburton East Kindergarten Committee was held recently in the Memorial Hall. Mrs R. Leask presided over a good attendance of parents. The following officers were elected: Convener, Mrs R. Leask; treasurer, Mrs S. Burrows; secretary, Mrs H. C. I-Iynam; committee, Mesdames G. Jordan, C. Young, A. Jones, C. Attwood, j Dickinson, C. Rowe, C. Martin, D. E. Esplin, E. Beck, L. Brown, R. Hardwick, C. Rosie, W. Lynn, R. Ford. Mrs Leask expressed the thanks of the committee to the retiring secretary, Mrs T. Phillips. Resignations were accepted with regret from Mrs Mills and Mrs Fraser. Appreciation of Mrs Mills’s five years’ service was placed on record. During the evening Mrs Leask introduced Miss Harris, the new director, ands, Miss Reid. Miss Harris reported that the kindergarten roll was now 46, but she was disappointed in the attendance at the play centre, and it was hoped that there would be many more enrolments in the near future. The play centre days were now Monday and Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. In future the monthly meetings of the local committee will be held on the last Monday in each month at 2.30 p.m.
