NORTH ISLAND POWER
WORK BEGUN ON DAM AT WHAKAMARU (P.A. AUCKLAND, Feb. 22. After more than three: years of survey and planning, work has begun on the construction of the Whakamaru dam, a few miles south of the Maraetai power project, which is now estimated to be within two years of completion. „ . . Whakamaru is the fourth of a chain of 10 hydro-electric power stations which are planned for the reach of the Waikato l’iver between Cambridge and Lake Taupo. Arapuni and Karapiro are already in full commission.
