GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH
PRIEST ARRIVES IN NEW ZEALAND (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 17. For the first time for two years the Greek Orthodox community in New Zealand has its own priest, the Rev. Elias Ekonomou, who arrived from Greece recently. Father Ekonomou will live in Wellington, where most of the members of his church are. He speaks little English, but has begun making contacts through an interpreter.
Father Ekonomou has expressed interest in the work of the National Council of Churches, and wishes to attend the next annual meeting of the Council. The Greek Orthodox Church, although it has been a member of the Council for the last two years, will thus have'a representative on it for the first time.
