MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER
V.'HAMA'T ANE SHOOTING CASE MAN ARRESTED 'IN WELLINGTON (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 17. Wellington detectives to-day arrested a man who has since been charged with the murder of Frederick Stanley Hodson. The arrested man is Chesley Lachlan Brooks, 'aged 20, an English seaman and labourer, employed at the hydroelectric sub-station a(. Edgecumbe. Hodson, a 59-year-old bacteriologist, married, of Lake Rotoma, Was found dead near Te Teko, Whakatane county, on Tuesday with a gunshot wound in the chest. He had been last, seen alive on Monday morning. Brooks was arrested at 5 p.m. by Senior-Detective G. E. Callaghan, De-tective-Sergeant F. O. Scott, and Detective W. J. Ross. He offered.no resistance.
Brooks will appear in the Magistrate’s Court, Wellington, to-morrow morning to face the charge, when the police Avill probably apply for a remand to Auckland.
