WEST GERMANY’S ECONOMY
CHANCELLOR REPLIES TO CRITICISM , LONDON, Feb. 17. Reutbr’s Bonn correspondent says that the West German Chancellor (Dr. Konrad Adenauer) strongly opposed Allied criticism of his economic policy at a four-hour meeting with the Allied High Commission. This is reported, he says, by British and German sources. ” .
The commission was supporting complaints. in reports by the United States Economic Coo-peration Administration about Germany’s “failure to deal with 1 unemployment and to stop the dollar drain and produce an effective import control plan.” Dr. Adenauer said that his Government had been in office only five months, and had inherited the present troubles from the former regime.
