REDUCTION ANNOUNCED (Rec. 10.5) WASHINGTON, Feb. 17. The United States military services had a' total of 1,512,400 officers and men on active service on January 31, which was a reduction of 38,400 froip the same month in 1949* the Defence Department said to-day. The forces,, on January 31, were: Army 615,400, Navy 401,900, Marine Corps 80,100, and Air Force \415,000.
