ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN
AMERICAN TOP-SECRET . \ (Rec. 9.15) WASHINGTON, Feb. 15. The Secretary of the Army, Mr Gray, has asked the House Military Approriations Committee for 4,5188500 dollars to continue the test of the “skysweeper,” a top-secret .anti-aircraft gun which the Army says can hit aeroplanes of supersonic speed either by day or night. Mr Gray described the weapons as “our best answer for the threat posed by aircraft at short and medium ranges.”
The gun, which is 75-millimetre, is said to have- radar-directed fire-control and proximity-fused ammunition. Mr Gray said the Army was now placing emphasis on tanks, their guns and ammunition, anti-aircraft missiles and guns, guided missiles and medical research in preventive medicine.
