MISSING PRISONER FOUND
WARRANT FOR ARREST • v EXECUTED . \ (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 13. A man who had been committed to the Supreme Court for sentence and who failed to appear has been found by the police to be a voluntary patient in a mental hospital, and has been apprehended. He is Charles William Vincent, aged 34, a truck driver, who pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to a charge of stealing a gold wristlet watch, valued at £l3, from a house. He was committed for sentence and released on bail on his own recognisance of £IOO and one surety of £IOO. When Vincent was called in the Supreme Court on January 24 for sentence he did not appear.
Mr Justice Nor-thcroft, on the application of Mr P. T. Mahon, for the Crown, issued a warrant for the apprehension of Vincent. His Honour also made orders for . the estreatment of the bond entered into by Vincent and his bondsman.
For some time Vincent could not be traced, but last week he was found to be a voluntary patient in a mental hospital. The warrant has been executed and Vincent has been apprehended. He will appear before the Supreme Court this week.
