DOLLAR OIL DISPUTE
EFFORT TO REACH SETTLEMENT (Rec. 10.0) WASHINGTON, Feb. 12. Leading American oil' companies will begin direct negotiations this week with British Government officials on the United Kingdom’s compromise proposals on the sterling dollar oil dispute. This step resulted from virtual rejection of the British compromise plan on February 10, after the executives of American oil companies had discussed the plan in detail with officials of the United States State Department. Efforts will be made to reach agreement which would cut down Britain’s imports of dollar oil while giving American companies a fair share of the sterling area petroleum market. —Reuter.
