AVOID BARLEY LOSSES “Skinned” Barley and Grain with broken ends is useless for malting. Six per cent, of damaged grain is sufficient to cause rejection of an otherwise good crop. IMPROPER THRESHING THE CAUSE. The principal cause of the trouble is the drum of the thresher revolving at too great a speed. This is easily rectified by changing the cog on the drum to slow down the revolutions. Slowing down the motor will not do the trick, as the riddle MUST be kept at the proper speed.
