HECTIC BOUT AT GISBORNE. REFEREE LOSES HIS SHIRT. GISBORNE, August 7. Kirilinko beat Chief Little Wolf by two falls to one after seven hectic rounds. Kirilinko scored a fall in the fourth with a body press after a slam, and the Indian evened in the sixth round with a deathlock which he refused to let go, the referee having to break the men. Little Wolf was disqualified in the seventh round when he tied the Russian’s leg in the ropes and refused to let him go. The bout was a hectic affair. The referee in a melee in the third round lost his shirt. When disqualified Little Wolf attacked the winner, who retaliated by chasing him with a waterbottle. The ring was eventually cleared by the police. In a very rough bout Little Wolf was continually earned for strangleholds and other illegalities. LEWIS DEFEATS WADE. DUNEDIN, August 8. “Strangler” Lewis took the decision last night against Glen Wade by two falls to one. The first fall went to Lewis in the third round with a body press, but Wade squared accounts in the next round when he lifted Lewis in a crotch hold for a heavy dump and a body press finished him. The end came early in the sixth round when Lewis, by sheer bulk and strength, gained the deciding fall. TWO CONTESTS AT WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, August 7. Frank Bronowyicz beat Steve Savage by a surprise fall in the seventh round of a professional contest. Frank Judson beat George Walker on points after each had obtained a fall. It was a colourless bout. A junior heavyweight elimination contest for the New Zealand title was won by Bartlett (New Zealand) from Peter Venter r,(Soutli Africa) By a. penalty fall in the second of three rounds. McCREADY BEATS SPELLMAN. GREYMOUTH, August S'. Earl McCready beat John Spellman by one fall secured in the sixth round with a body press after two dumps, in the Greymouth Town Hall on Saturday night. BLOMFi ELD DISQUALIFIED. AUCKLAND, August 8. The disqualification of “Lofty” Blomfiekl for striking his opponent, “King Kong” Cox in the seventh round brought a sudden end to a wrestling contest. Blomfiekl had been twice thrown through the ropes, and on the second occasion while he was standing on the staging outside the ring he hit Cox with his closed fist. Before this incident each man had obtained a fall. The first was won by Cox in the fourth round. Ho jolted Blomfield several times before lifting him for a slam and body press. Blomfield drew level in the sixth round, when a series of forearm jolts was followed by three flying tackles, each of which sent Cox sprawling and Blomfield then finished with a body press.
