A SIGNIFICANT VISIT.
MOORISH PRINCE AND FRANCO. TRIBAL FIDELITY SWORN. (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) SALAMANCA, August 8. Bearing gifts and greetings from his brother, the “Blue Sultan” of Ifni, a Moorist Prince, Sini Mahomet Liman, called on General Franco. The visit is regarded as an event of some significance since the Ifni tribe has hitherto maintained a markedly troublesome attitude. It is considered to be the fruits of General Franco’s policy of treating the Moroccan territories as not merely valuable but vital adjuncts of Spain. Ifni proved valuable to General Franco as an air base and may become a station of the allSpanish air route from Canarrias to South America. Liman plans to visit all Ifni contingents in General Franco’s native army in Spain, of which the Ifni sharpshooters are the crack contingent. Liman swore tribal fidelity to General Franco, who promised better conditions. GENERAL FRANCO’S AMBASSADOR. WARM GREETING BY HITLER, BERLIN, August G. Senor Amarques Demagas presented to Herr Hitler his credentials as General Franco’s Ambassador to Germany. Herr Hitler declared : “It is my, and Germany’s wish that General Franco’s army succeed in securing peace in Spain, and averting the danger which menaces Europe. I also wish that Spanish-German trade be promoted as far as possible-.” Senor Demagas declared that Nationalist Spain united with Germany in common hatred of Communsim, and was grateful without limit for Germany’s help and friendship. He added: “Many Nazi orinciples will bo applied to Spain.”
