THE WEATHER.
FINE CONDITIONS CONTINUE. Fine weather, which was experienced in Ashburton during the week-end, continued to-day. The weather on featuiday afternoon was fairly cool, hut there was some warm sunshine yesterday and again this morning. The sky was clear early in the day, but clouded over later. The temperature remained mild, with a light northerly wind. The maximum temperature yesterday was 51.5 degrees and on Saturday 46.9 degrees. Inside minimum temperatures were 37.9 degrees last night and 39.6 degrees on Saturday night. The barometer at 9 o’clock this morning had risen to 30.02 inches from 29.90 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference: A fairly intense anticyclone covers the Tasman Sea and extends over the Dominion. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows : Variable winds with light to moderate southerly predominating. Seme sharp frosts. Considerable but decreasing southerly swell.
