MATCH DRAWN

GAME AGAINST WARWICKSHIRE. GOOD BOWLING AND FIELDING. CARSON AND MOLONEY STEADY. (From the special correspondent of the United Press Association with the team). (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, August 6. The cricket match New Zealand v. Warwickshire, played at Birmingham, was drawn. In muggy heat to-day the New Zealanders bowled and fielded keenly. Moloney maintained length and spin commendably. Vivian and Gallichan were consistently steady. The Warwickshire tail-enders followed hit-or-miss tactics and enjoyed considerable fortune, many mishits falling clear of the fieldsmen. Warwick's recovery, after losing five wickets - cheaply, set the -visitors the rather difficult task of scoring 302 in the fourth innings to win. Their difficulties were increased when the first three wickets fell for 61 runs. Both Hadlee and Wallace were comfortable and aggressive. Weir gave a fine exhibition of powerful driving, hitting eight fours. Weir and Donnelly together put on 65 in 40 minutes. Five were out for 126. Carson and Moloney played steadily when the side was in the shadow of possible defeat. Carson played powerful scoring strokes, especially on anything short. He hit six fours. The sixth wicket fell when the score was 200. A new ball was not taken, the county relying on the spin bowlers as the wicket was showing 9igns of wear. Moloney patiently played out time with Page. Moloney showed fine patience on defence when the county was striving for a win. Scores:— WARWICKSHIRE. First Innings ... 259 Second Innings.
