Mineral production in New Zealand last year was valued at £3,768,181, compared with £3,741,978 for 1935, an increase of £26,203, according to returns released for publication by the Minister for Mines (the Hon. P. C. Webb). There was a decrease of 702 ounces in the production of gold, last year’s output amounting to 164,757 ounces valued at £1,233,178, compared with 165,277 ounces valued at £1,243,552 in 1935. Coal production last year amounted to 2,140,217 tons, compared with 2,115,184 tons in the previous year, an increase of 25,033 tons.
