THE RESERVE BANK. THE WEEKLY STATEMENT. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 5. A Gazette issued to-niglxt contains the following statement of the assets and liabilities of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand a 9 at the close of business on August 2: —

GRAIN AND PRODUCE. CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. CHRISTCHURCH, August 4. The potato market continues firm, with a little better inquiry from the North Island. Other sections are quiet. The following are quotations to farmers on trucks at country stations, sacks extra unless otherwise stated: Milling Wheat—F.a.q. Tuscan 5s 4*Jd, Hunters 5s 6Jd, Pearl 5s B|d (August delivery). Fowl Wheat —G.w.f. 5s 3d f.0.b., under-grade, 4s lOd to 5s (according to quality). Oats—Gartons 2s 9d to 3s 3d, Algerians, 2s 8d to 3s; Duns, 2s 6d to 3s 3d (according to quality). Cocksfoot—4d to lOd (according to qualify). Ryegrass —Perennial, 2s 9d to 3s 3d (according to quality); Italian, 2s 9d to Bs. White Clover-8d to lOd. Cowgrass—6d to 7d. Partridge Peas —4s 3d to 4s 9d; under-grade, 3s to 4s 2d. Flour—£l3 15s 6d, in 2001 b sacks. Bran—£4 Los to £5 5s (local prioe). Pollard—£6 5s to £6 15s (local price).
Chaff—£4 to £4 10s (according to quality). Potatoes —Prompt: Dakotas, £6 ss; white, £5 10s. Onions—£lo to £ll (first quality). THE MARKET IN SYDNEY. SYDNEY, August 5. Wheat—The market is lower as a result of the weaker tone overseas. Silo grain is selling at 5s 3d bagge wheat (nominally) at 5s sd, and in. the country at 4s 8d a bushel. Flour —£13 a ton. Bran and Pollard—£7 10s a ton. Potatoes —Tasmanian £5 10s a ton, others £4 10s. Onions—Brown £l3 a toil. Maize —5s 6d a bushel.
