GRAIN AND PRODUCE. THE ASHBURTON MARKET. Ashburton grain, seed and produce merchants report a fairly brisk week on the local market. Fowl wheat is still in good demand, and orders are difficult to fill. The oat market is quiet and few lines are offering. Garton oats suitable for seed are in demand. There was a. further North Island inquiry for potatoes during the week, and values have firmed. White potatoes have not advanced to the same extent, the demand having chiefly been for Dakotas. ' Inquiries are now coming to hand for machine-dressed lines of clovers and grass seed for the spring trade.
