BLOMFIELD BEATS WESTCOATT. PALMERSTON N., August 4. Lofty Blomfield beat Rusty Westcoatt wrestling here to-night, before a packed house. Westcoatt secured a fall in the fourth round with a body press following a flying tackle and a drop-kick. Westcoatt attempted another flying tackle at the start of the sixth round, going clean through the ropes and partially dislocating a shoulder. The American returned to the ring and wrestled on in pain for a couple of minutes, when Blomfield trapped him into an octopus clamp. Westcoatt immediately submitted. During the interval before the seventh round a doctor examined the American’s shoulder, and on his advice the contest was discontinued, Blomfield being declared the winner. LEWIS BEATS SPELLMAN. —r— CHRISTCHURCH, August 4. Ed Lewis (18.6) beat John Spellman (15.12) to-night by two falls, gained in the fifth and seventh rounds, to nil. A packed house loudly expressed disapproval both of the bout and the final result. Lewis relied on his great advantage of weight and strength, and a headlock was almjbst the only hold he used. The fall in the fifth round followed a series of dumps with headlocks and in the seventh Spellman laid himself open for a second fall when he misjudged a flying tackle' and, missing Lewis, threw himself through the ropes. After a count of 18 lie returned to the ring obviously groggy, and Lewis. easily pinned him with a body press.
