ST JAMES THEATRE. “Charlie Chan at the Opera,” in which the famous screen detective finds himself up against the most baffling problem of the series, will be shown finally this evening at the St. James Theatre. There is a good programme of supporting features. , Charles Boyer and Jean Arthur, the screen’s newest team of film romancers, come to the St. James Theatre in Walter Wanger’s “History Is Made At Night” for two days on Thursday and Friday and the matinee on Friday. This smart, fast-paced romance casts Boyer in a totally new type of role as Paul Rumond, dashing man-about-town and the most popular head waiter on the Continent, while Jean Arthur is seen as a lovely New York mannequin. They meet in Paris under thrilling circumstances. The nail’ become involved in a gay, ultra-modern romance that carries them from France to America against a series of stunning, ultramodern settings, including a crack luxury liner and the smartest restaurants of New York and Paris. MAJESTIC THEATRE. Entertainment of the best screen type will be given to patrons of the Majestic Theatre to-morrow evening, when “More Than a Secretary” will be shown finally. Jean Arthur and George Brent are the featured players in this amusing story. There is an excellent selection of supporting features.
