FAR EAST CRISIS.
LARGE CREDITS IN JAPAN. INCREASES IN TAXATION. (United Press Association—Copyright.) TOKIO, August 2. The Japanese Government is seeking unprecedentedly large additional credits, which, with former appropriations, aggregate £24,000,000, for which reason increases in the taxes on luxuries and incomes are being introduced as well as a war profits tax, also a large loan, despite the adverse trade balance on July 31 of £42,250,000, the highest on record. The decision caused a sharp decline in stocks. 'Meanwhile the lull in China continues, although two small Chinese forces between Peiping and Warping have been annihilated.
