PERSONAL.
A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Air ,F. W. Watt was carried at the meeting of the executive of the Advance Ashburton Association last evening, when tributes were paid to the work he had done for the Borough. Air J. F. Rooney received a gift of cutlery from employees on the staff ot Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., Ashburton, in view of his marriage. Air 0. Aloore, who has left the staff of Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd.,- Ashburton, after about 15 years’ service, to enter business at Oiiertsey,' was presented with a clock from members of the staff as a token of esteem. « Airs S. A. Buchler, who is.leaving on an extended visit to the North Island and South Sea Islands, was farewelled at the meeting of the Church of Christ Christian Women’s Auxiliary to-day. Airs A. Rooke (president) presented her with gloves on behalf of members. Aliss Alice Aladden was entertained at a social evening by the drama and library circles of the Ashburton Cavendish Club on Saturday, and was made a presentation by Airs E. Ruddock (president of the club) on behalf of members of the circles in view of her marriage. On the eve of severing his connection with the International Harvester Company, Ltd., in Ashburton, after 10 years, to take up a position with the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Ltd., Air R. Turnbull was met by fellow-employees last evening and presented with an electric toaster. Making the presentation. Air W. T. Richardson eulogised tlie recipient s good qualities and made reference to his loyalty. These remarks were endorsed by Messrs A. Mathers and J. F. Yeatmah.
