BANK HOLIDAY IN ENGLAND. (United Press Association—Copyright.) , (Received This Day, 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, August 2. All records were broken in the exodus from London and other towns for thb Bank Holiday, a feature being the amazing increase in car travel. Twentythree thousand motors passed on the main coast roads from London yesterday morning. French holiday resorts were also crowded by English visitors. Trains and aeroplanes we’re loaded to capacity. Generous spending was symptomatic of the widespread revival in trade. LARGE ATTENDANCE AT SPORTS. (Received This Day, 11.55 a.m.) LONDON, August 2. Eighty-three thousand Bank Holi-day-makers attended the international athletic meeting at White City, and 100,000 saw nine first-class cricket matches. Lord Burghley, speaking at a dinner at White City, declared that many people were rather disillusioned regarding the League of Nations, but athletes were building up something worth while—a league of nations of sport.
