MINISTERS CONFER.
ASHBURTON-RANCITATA GROUP. BIBLE INSTRUCTION IN SCHOOLS The Ashburton-llangitata Ministers’ Association, at its monthly' meeting, welcomed the Rev. J. S. Freeman as a member. The secretary (the Rev. H. A. Cliilds) reported that only one school under the survey was not receiving regular Bible instruction, and it was anticipated that when the nature of the instruction was fully appreciated, in that case also, the system would work as satisfactorily as in the schools under the Association's care, from all of which hearty appreciation was expressed. Thre president (the Rev. D. D. MacLachlan) reported on matters regarding the proposed Band of Hope, and the secretary was authorised to proceed with arrangements to facilitate an early start. The report on the second United Methodist Church of England and Presbyterian Service, held on Sunday evening last, was most satisfactory, all churches being well represented and the spirit of fellowship being enjoyed by all. The address was given by the president.' The meeting then heal'd an interesting paper on agreements and disagreements with the Oxford Group Movement, and discussion followed. The president, in thanking Mr Childs for his thoughtful address, said it had been a most fair treatment of the subject in an earnest 'endeavour to arrive at the truth before either commending or condemning this new movement.
