THE WEATHER.
MILD CONDITIONS CONTINUE. Mild spring weather continued in Asliburton to-day. The temperature was moderate, and the wind from the south slightly cool. The sky was overcast.
The wind became colder in the afternoon and a few drops of rain fell. The maximum temperature yesterday was 58.2 degrees and the inside minimum last nigtit 39.3 degrees. The barometer at 9 o’clock this morning had fallen to 29.51 inches from 29.74 inches yesterday morning. SUNSHINE IN JULY. The sunshine in Ashburton in July, recorded at the (Domain weather station, amounted to 126 hours 9 minutes, a fairly large increase on 109 hours four minutes recorded for the corresponding month last year. There was no sunshine on July 13 or July 25. The improvement in the weather last month is shown by the sunshine recording for June this 'year, being only 87 hours one minute.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day. issued the following statement regarding the weather: — . General inference: A complex depression extends from the north-east Tasman Sea southward across the South Island. A secondary is following it over the south Tasman, but pressure is rising over south-eastern Australia. The foreoast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate to string northerly winds, backing shortly to westerly and later south-westerly. W T eather unsettled, with intermittent rain. Temperatures mild, but cooler to-morrow. Seas moderate, but rising somewhat.
