PERSONAL.

Mr E. Vincent was last evening appointed Borough valuer for Glasgow leases, in place of Mr F. W. Watt. Mr A. C. Robinson, of Auckland, will arrive in Ashburton next Thursday to take over the position of manager’ for the Public Trust Office, and his predecessor, Mr E. J. O’Brien, will leave Ashburton on August 12 for Pukekohe, where he has been appointed manager. The Mayor (Mr W. H. Woods) was last evening appointed in place of Mr F. W. Watt as one of the Borough Council Sinking Fund Commissioners. He will act with Mr W. H. Rundle. A third commissioner (Mr J. W. Bowden) was also appointed. Miss Audrey Pilbrow (formerly of Ashburton) will leave England on September 26 for Cape Town, and will spend some months visiting South Africa. For the last two and a half years she has been visiting England, and has taken the opportunity of visiting most parts of the United Kingdom. She has also visited the Continent.

Members of the senior Young Women’s Bible Class of the Baring Square Methodist Church entertained one of their number, Miss Olive Tinker, on the eve of her marriage. A large number of gifts were received, and they were handed over by Sister Mildred, who expressed good wishes to Miss Tinker. Items *n the programme were given by Misses M. Fowke, D. Watts and A. Thomas, and the evening was concluded with the singing of camp choruses.
