MEN ON RELIEF.
INCREASE IN REGISTRATIONS. fPer Press Association.) AVELLINGTON, August 2. An increase of 1707 registrations for the Employment Promotion Fund during the four-weekly period ended on July 3 was revealed by the ActingMinister of Labour (the Hon. P. C. AA 7 ebb) in a statement issued to-day. On July 3 the total number of males wholly or partly dependent on the Employment Promotion Fund was 37,546, he said. The following table compared the position at June 5 last and July 2, .1937, the latter period mentioned last: June July. Registered hut not eligible or not placed on relief 2500 2901 Receiving rationed relief work 6136 6075 Receiving sustenance without work 20,690 21,845 Receiving full-time employment wholly or partly paid from the Employment Promotion Fund .. 6513 6725 Totals 35,839 37,546 A comparison between the figures for July 3, 1937, and July 4, 1936, shows a reduction of 16,692.
