ACTION RESENTED.

A BROADCAST CANCELLED. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 31. Because of conditions imposed by the Government, the proposed broadcast talk from station IZM to-morrow by the Moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly (the Rt. Rev. T. H. Roseveare), under the auspices of the Crusade for Social Justice, has been cancelled. The Postmaster-General (the Hon. F. Jones) stated in a telegram to the organisation that pending a decision on the question of broadcast talks and debates, it regretted that it was not possible to agree to a broadcast under the auspices of the Crusade. However, the Minister added, he would be pleased to allow the Moderator to speak provided his script was first submitted to and approved by the station director. The organisers of the Crusade consider that such conditions would mean that the Moderator would have to speak in a purely independent way, and that his address would ho more or less alienated from the body under whose auspices it was planned. It has therefore been deckled to cancel the broadcast. Officials of the Crusade consider it a violation of the fundamentals of free speech that the leader of the Presbyterian Church should have to submit his address on Christian principles for approval.
