The vessel will cost 125,000 dollars to build, aii extra.2s,ooo dollars for operation. „ j 5; The submarine will be 75 feet long and 14 feet in diameter. Sir Hubert Wilkins said he .planned to start from Spitzbergeii next May, and would possibly make a cruise under the polar ice of 2200 miles to Alaska. He was confident that with an electric drill it would be possible to cut boles in the ice through which an observer could come to the surface from the submarine.
