SOAP WORKS AT SYDNEY.
TWENTY FIREMEN INJURED

In one of the most spectacular fires seen in Sydney for years, the works of Australian Soaps, Ltd., in the syburb of Alexandria, was destroyed last night. The damage is estimated at £IOO,OOO. Twenty firemen were injured, one seriously. The firemen were confronted with a difficult task. They had to face blazing oil, noxious fumes and explosions. The works was recently modernised and contained some of the finest machinery in the Commonwealth.
WOOL STORE IN MELBOURNE.
MANY VALUABLE SHEEP SAVED.
(United Press Association—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, August 1. Fifteen fire engines were engaged at a fire at the wool store of the Goldsbrough, Mort Company in Melbourne. The fire partly gutted the building. The fire broke out with remarkable suddenness, but the employees were able to save 84 rams, bundling them into lifts and taking them to the ground floor. The sheep were worth an average of 200 guineas each. Eighty firemen, fought the blaze which roared through the wooden store in a few minutes, the flames rising to 200 feet.
