CANTERBURY BEATS OTAGO. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Canterbury on Saturday successfully defended the English Football Association trophy against Otago. In a previous game in Christchurch for the Jones Cup, Otago won 3-2; but with the trophy at stake Canterbury made no mistake, winning by 4 goals to 1. IN OTHER CENTRES. Auckland —Thistle 4, Mount Albert 1; North Shore 8, Comrades 0; Abels 6, Ponsonby 4. Wellington—Hospital 1, Petone 1; Marist 2, Diamond 1; Waterside 3, Technical Old Boys 1. Seatoun and Institute Old Boys had byes.
