Conditions were very pleasant at Riccarton on Saturday, and the attendance appeared to be the tor many years at a Christchurch Hunt meeting. The totalisator put through £16,905, compared with £9868 at the last meeting two years ago. Concluding results: — Longbeach Hurdles, of 150 sovs; one mile and three-quarters—l (1) Collision 10.3 (R. GISBORNE, July 31. The Poverty Bay Turf Club’s steeplechase meeting concluded in fine weather, and the going was good. The totalisator handled £9185, against £6003 10s on the second day last year, an increase of £3lßl 10s. The total for the meeting was £15,221, compared with £9960' last year, an increase of £5261. At the Moorefield races to-day the first division of the Juvenile Handicap, of £l5O, six furlongs, was won by Aero King (N.Z.), 8.8 (M. McCarten), by a neck from Welcome 9.5 (McMenamin) and Moavell 8.7 (Ashmore). There were 13 starters, and the time was 1.17. Capaneus was unplaced in the Flying Welter. Hirai won the Maiden Plate from St. Constant and Rebel Chief. MOONEE VALLEY EVENTS. MELBOURNE, July 31. I METHVEN TROTTING CLUB. PROGRAMME FOR OCTOBER. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Methven Trotting Club was presided over by Mr T. S. Harrison. Motions of sympathy were passed with Mr H. Freeman and Mr J. McAnulty in their bereavements. Mr H. F. Nicoll wrote thanking the club for his election as an honorary member. Six new members were elected. It was decided to make all local limbless district returned soldiers honorary members of the club. The following officers were appointed :—Clerk of course, Mr P. L. Donald; starter, Mr A. J.
