THE BAND’S INSTRUMENT FUND. PAYMENT BY END OF MONTH. A report on the position of raising funds for the new instruments for the Ashburton Silver Band was received at a meeting of the Citizens’ Committee of the band. To enable the band to secure a discount of £7O on the instruments it will he necessary that £l5O be raised by the end of the month. The number ‘of subscribing members enrolled to date is 314, and it is hoped to raise this number to 500. Residents of town and county were appealed to in order to raise the money necessary.

It was reported that the presentation of the new instruments would take place at a concert in the Majestic Theatre on Wednesday, and that the presentation would be made by the Mayor (Mr W. H. Woods) and the County Chairman (Mr F. Frampton).
