MATCH AGAINST TARANAKI. NEW PLYMOUTH, July 30. The Springboks play the third match of their tour to-morrow, meeting Taranaki. The Springbok captain (P. Nel) agreed to 40-minute spells. The town is packed with a record number of visitors. The turf at Rugby Park is firm, and the weather seems likely to be good. The Taranaki team seeks to maintain the reputation established in 1921, when the province played a scoreless draw against the Springboks. _ The team is heartened by recalling its defeat of the Auckland representative side three weeks ago by 29 points to 19. At 3.50 the score was: — Springboks H Taranaki 3 MANAWATU TEAM CHOSEN. (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., July 30. The following is the Manawatu team to play the Springboks next Wednesday : Full-back Waldin. Three-quarters Waugh, Nicol, Buick. Five-eighths—Lo Quesne, Finlay. Half-back—Edlin. Forwards —Newman, Terry, Williams, Powell, R. McKenzie (captain), E. Fell, Ewart, Sullivan. Emergencies : Thomas, Wasley, and Gillespie. Tho average weight of the forwards is list 4 Jib.
