THE WEATHER.
FINE WITH COOL WIND. The weather in Ashburton to-day was again fine, but there was a cool wind from an easterly direction. The sky was hazy. There was a frost of 6.8 degrees recorded at the Domain weather station this morning. The maximum temperature yesterday was 53 degrees and the inside minimum last night 29.2 degrees. The barometer at 9 o’clock this morning at risen to 30.0 inches compared with 29.50 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon issued the following statement regarding the weather: — Genera! inference: An anticyclone is centred over the North Tasman Sea and extends on to the Dominion. Pressure is falling over south-eastern Australia. The forecast for the east c6ast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light to moderate southwesterly to westerly winds, shortly turning northerly, and to-morrow freshening somewhat. Weather fair to fine and mild. Seas moderate with a considerable but decreasing southerly swell.
