ANNUAL CONFERENCE.

SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS.

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 28

The South African. Veterans Conference was opened to-day by the Hon. F. Jones (Minister of Defence and Minister in Charge of War Pensions). He mentioned that the national health and superannuation legislation to be presented during the coming session would bo of great assistance to them, and if he could do anything to meet their problems be would be glad to do so. The report stated that the number in receipt of South African War pensions at March 31 last was 97, an increase of seven for the year. The number receiving pensions for disabilities contracted in the South African War was .56, including dependents.
