(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 28

A meeting of the Dominion Council of the New Zealand National Party tv as held in Wellington to-day. The Hon. Adam Hamilton (Leader of the Opposition) was present, and Mr C. H. Weston presided. Reports from four divisions disclosed a great increase in , membership since the last quarterly meeting. In the country districts farmers were feeling the heavy increase in the cost of production, while in the cities housewives, particularly, were becoming apprehensible of further additions to the cost of living. It was reported that the Leader of the Opposition and members of the Parliamentary Party who had conducted speaking tours had found gieav nervousness in the ranks of the commercial community, all business men, and especially small shopkeepers, being increasingly worried by harassing inspections and restrictions. Arrangements were made for the forthcoming annual Dominion conference of the party, which will be held shortly after Parliament meets. The tentative date for the conference is early in September.
