THE WEATHER.

FINE SPELL CUNTINUES. The recent fine, sunny weather which has been experienced in Ashburton continued to-day. The temperature was mild, although the southerly wind was slightly cool. The sky was cloudless. There was a frost of 4.8 degrees recorded at thhe Domain weather station this morning. The maximum temperature yesterday was 57.6 degrees and the inside minimum last night 33 degrees. The barometer at 9 o’clock this morning had risen to 29.50 inches from 29.25 inches yesterday morning.

TO-DAY’S FORECAST.

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day. issued the following statement regarding the weather:—General inference: The anti-cyclone which has been moving slowly across Australia now extends from New South Wales across the north Tasman Sea to beyond New Zealand. Secondary depressions continue, however, to traverse the southern portion of the South Island.

The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:

Moderate to strong westerly winds, backing to south-westerly. Weather mainly fair, but some scattered showers probable. Cold night with sharp frosts. Seas moderate, but rather rough to rough offshore.
