SEAMAN WHO DESERTED SHIP.
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 27
Through an interpreter, an Estonian seaman, Adolf Edward Fogelberg, aged 37, admitted charges of ship desertion and being a prohibited immigrant when lie appeared before Air A. H. AI (Kean, 8.A1., in the Alagistrate’s Court.
The Collector of Customs said the accused deserted from the oil tanker Filefjell. at Dunedin on October 27 last, and had since worked on farms in various parts of the country. Application was made for a deportation order, under which the accused might he held in custody for not more than six months, pending the arrival ol a ship on which lie could be deported. It was stated that one suitable ship was due at Wellington in a day or so, and another was expected at Auckland on August 7. The Alagistrate made the order sought.
