BIBLE CLASSES
PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. ANNUAL ASHBURTON MEETING. At the annual meeting of Mid-Can-terbury Presbyterian Bible Classes over 70 members attended. The annual report stated that deputations had visited the Wakanui and Lagmhor Bible Classes. At the Labour Day rally at Methven 170 had attended, compared with 205 in the previous year. The rally was a great success, those taking part receiving a great deal of benefit. Methven won the overhead ball competition for the Watson Cup. The postponement of the conference at Wanganui, on account of infantile paralysis, was a great disappointment to members, who had looked forward to- 1 it. The Easter camp, which was held at Methven was attended by fifty-two members. The young men’s classes competed for the Morgan Shield, Ashburton being the winners. Messrs Freeman and Carroll were welcomed during the year. In conjunction with the Presbyterial Association a memorial was being established to the late Mrs R. Morgan, of Methven, in appreciation of her great work. The young women’s report stated that one class affiliated during the year. A fair number of badges were sold. The contribution to missions was well maintained. It was regrettable that few members had taken up leadership training. A fair amount of literature had been received for distribution to isolated districts. There were 16 affiliated classes, with 165 members, and 10 unaffiliated classes. The young men’s report stated that a fair number of badges had been sold. Quite a number of books had been sold by the literature agent. The Rev. D. B. Ashford (Rakaia) was elected district president. The following young women’s officers were elected:—President, Miss M. Ashford (Rakaia); vice-president, Miss L. Tinker (Ashburton); secretary, Miss I. Lithgow (Ashburton); treasurer, Miss A. Frampton (Hinds). The following young men’s officers were elected:—President, Mr S. Wilson (Rakaia); secretary, Mr R. Harwood (Ashburton); treasurer, Mr C. J.
