LOSS BY FIRE.

FOUR HAWKE’S BAY HOUSES. (Per Press - Association.) WAIPUKURAU, July 26. A four-roomed cottage belonging to Mr W. Severinsen, at Ashley-Clinton, was burned to the ground on Saturday at 11 p.m. This was the fourth residence in central Hawke’s Bay to suffer destruction through fire in 11 days. The first fire occurred om July 14, at Mr T. E. Whelch’s Lake Station homestead, near Wanstead. Two days later Mr C. Smith’s home at Takapau was destroyed, and last Friday fire destroyed Mr J. G. Wilson’s residence at Netherby, Hatuma. All the fires occurred at night, and the dwellings and contents were destroyed, the occupants escaping in night attire.
