LARGE INCREASE
THE DOMINION WOOL SALES. RETURNS FOR THE LAST SEASON. GROSS PROCEEDS £15,344.231. (Per Press Association.) 'WELLINGTON, This Day. Dalgety and Co.’s annual review of the New Zealand wool trade states that 686,994 bales were sold. At June 30 there were 15,198 bales on hand, consisting principally of crutchings and oddments, which have since been practically disposed of. Shipments on account of growers were 60,847 bales, including 47,988 bales of greasy. The gross proceeds of the New Zealand sales were £15,344,231, an average of £22 6s Sd a bale. The price per lb was 15.71 d. The total was an increase over that of last year of £5,260,934. Of the total purchased in New Zealand for the 12 months, the United Kingdom took 245,626 bales, Japan, China and India 122,769, the United States and Canada 114,513, New Zealand manufacturers 24,294, local scourers 25,807, Australia 14,987.
