Tube Repairs. —The old-fashioned way of repairing a puncture or burst tube is quite superseded by tlie .H.F. process, which consists of ctig-rafting new rubber in the damaged place.. No patches are used, however large or serious the damage may be. Instead-'of an awkward patch, which only covers • over the fault, and which is sure to give trouble, the H.F. process remakes the portion of the tube. Bursts in Covers. —These occur either through neglected cuts in the tread, or from some weakness introduced by improper treatment. The H.F. process is the" only method by which a burst tyre can be repaired and that part made without subjecting the entire cover to the action of heat, which is very undesirable. It consists of removing the damaged canvas, and replacing it with new material in graduating steps, •spreail over sufficient area to withstand the heavy strain when ,on the road.
