MEETINGS.
UPPER ASHBURTON ROAD BOARD
The monthly; meeting of the Upper Ashburton Road Board was held on Saturday. Present: Messrs C. J. Harper (chairman), A. Horsey, -J. Tucker, and J. Far roll. ' . Tho Mount Somers Road Board wrote requesting the board to have the gorso cleared from tho side of tho road i'rom tho top of tho cutting of Cullen's Crossing to the Cemetery Road.—lt was decided to inform • the Mount Somera BoaTd that as tho road is a boundary one, tho board had power to notify owners to clear goise.. ■■' Mi-' :AV;. Dellow; Wesite&eld, wrote;, stating that there was a possibility or tlie Ashbnrtoit Rivor running over atj Green's Road, as the road appeared to ( *o level with tho 1 river. Ho suggested that somo scooping should be done to turn the stream.—The chairman reported that he and Mr Tucker had inspected tho crossing and found that nothing could bo done until the river went down, and as soon'as this took place tho matter would be attended to. Messrs Hendry and Small wrote asking permission to construct three fords across roads in the Barford district.— Permission was granted. It was resolved that the general rate.be made and levied as moved at. last meeting, also that tho separate rate for No. 5 Alksnton subdivision be made and levied. A notification was received that the property ownod by the late Mr Robert Waugh, o» tne kaghmor Road, has been transferred to Elizabeth Black.— It was decided to make the necessary roll alteration, and also in regard to; tho transfer of 1877 acres 2 roods 28 perches in Westerfield district from G. j F and R. Austin to A. T. Lilloy. j Accounts amounting to £423 .were passed for payment.
