GERMANS RECOVER LOST TRENCHES.
• (Received October 8, 11.5 a.m.) LONDON, October 8 Sir Douglas Haig repoi-ts:— ». We considerably advanced northward and north-eastward of Courcelette. A German counter-attack in the evening, northward of Les Boeufs, recovered a small portion of their lost trenches. Wo took possession of the whole of lo Sars, and completely repulsed a German attack on the Schwaben Redoubt.
