HEARTY RECEPTION IN LONDON

■ LONDON, October 8. Mr Massey and Sir Joseph Ward arrived at Paddington station at 10 last night. There was a picturesque scone at "the station when a big body of. New Zealand troops on the dimly-lighted platform greeted them with rousing cheers. Mr Massey, in a few words, expressed his formal thanks. Sir Thomas. Mackenzie and many New Zealanders and others were present, including Lord Pluuket, Sir James Carroll, Mr James Contes. Mr Gilbert Anderson,, General Richardson, Moss Davis, Mr T. E. Donne, -»olonels Fitzherbert, Hall, and Myers. T The Ministers' wives and tho rest of tlio party are in the best of lioalth and were delighted to' hear of. the .New Zealanders' prowess at Flers, though the joy was tempered by sad regrets at
the casualties. , The party aro staying at the Hotel Cecil as the guests of the Government.
